This weekend I had a blast becoming reacquainted with the Do's and Don'ts of tennis while I watched my nephew (?) ,Skyler, take FIRST PLACE in the STATE tennis doubles finals.

First, I learned that you DO need to be prepared to be more excited and into the game than you thought you would be. You also DO need to learn the appropriate terms and phrases to cheer on your team........and the proper times to use them. One of the most important rules of spectator tennis is that you do NOT say anything until a point is made.

However, I also learned that keeping THIS particular rule is next to impossible when a player like Skyler makes a spectacular net shot that practically burns the hair off of his opponent.

Fortunately, the crowd, and the rest of the Almquist family, show leniency to novice fans and I was allowed to remain for the rest of the game, set, and match....
which Skyler and his partner won with no problem at all.
Loved it!!!
I may be inspired to take up tennis again myself.

Too fun! I have never been to a tennis match and would have been the one yelling at all the wrong places. Good thing you had people to give you the heads up!
Love. Deuce. That's all I know.
Looks like it was an absolutely beautiful day, though. I DO know my weather. :P
Congratulations to Skylar!
I love to watch people watching a tennis match. I know that groaning is permitted and modest applause is acceptable. You would think after that much exertion and expertise demonstrated by the players - well, just a few mildly loud, "way to go Sky" would be perfectly acceptable. I thought the French would be more verbal!
